Founding Pastor
Founding Pastor
Hi, I’m Jesus of Nazareth. I am the eternal second member of the Trinity, and God incarnate. I also go by Son of Man, Son of the Living God, Son of David, The Good Shepherd, Bread of Life, King of Kings, Teacher, The Word, Messiah, Lamb of God, The Way, the Truth, and the Life, and I AM.
While on earth I taught about the Kingdom of God, healed the sick, raised the dead, fed the masses, restored the disenfranchised, led people to repentance, called people to holiness, called out religious hypocrisy, and never sinned.
I founded the Church in A.D. 33 after my death and resurrection. After my ascension, my disciples - powered by the Holy Spirit - disseminated the Good News about Me to the nations, and it changed the world forever. I invite you to continue this life-giving work until I return to earth and establish my eternal reign. See you soon.
Teaching Pastor
Teaching Pastor
Hi, I’m Ty Benbow. I am the Teaching Pastor at Kindred Church. I received salvation in Jesus Christ as an 8-year-old on the last day of VBS at First Church of God in Eaton, Indiana on the same day I tried to skip church. Since then, Jesus has pursued me with more diligence, patience, and concern than I have reciprocated. Despite my limitations and flaws, God has gifted me with the spiritual gifts of faith, encouragement, preaching, and teaching.
It is my desire to utilize these gifts at Kindred for the remainder of my living days on earth. God has blessed me with an amazing wife named Riley, an enthusiastic daughter named Berkeley, a wild son named Zane, and a joyful son named Fletcher.
I received a bachelor’s degree in psychology from Wabash College in Crawfordsville, Indiana, a Master of Divinity from Anderson University School of Theology in Anderson, Indiana, and a Doctor of Ministry with emphasis on Preaching and Leading from Asbury Theological Seminary in Asbury, Kentucky.
Prior to moving to the KC Metro, I taught in the Biblical Studies Department at Warner University as a full-time Professor from 2015 t0 2022.
For my day job I serve as a Strategist at Prolific, a growth firm based in Indianapolis.

Worship Pastor
Worship Pastor
Hi, I’m Samuel Quinn. I am the Worship Pastor at Kindred Church. Since I was young, I have enjoyed participating in worship at church gatherings. I have found the act worship to be incredibly impactful in my spiritual life and walk with the Lord. It’s truly an honor for me to be in this position and something that I see as a great responsibility. Most often I find that worship serves as a reminder of the presence of the Holy spirit in our lives.
Like many I grew up in the church, raised with bible stories and proverbs that were used to help shape my life. As an adolescent I began to question some of these teachings and was pulled into trying to make sense of the world through the society in which I live. This caused me to turn away from my faith and I began to see it more as a set of rules to live by. Through rationalization I made sense of my actions and my sin. In hindsight, this took the meaning out of the faith for me, and I fell away. It wasn’t until my early twenties that I heard Christianity described as a personal relationship with God. The message that He wanted me to walk with Him, not just to simply do what was “right” changed me. This return to my faith brought meaning back to my life. Highlighting the importance of relationship, with God, and with others.
Through this renewed pursuit of the Lord, I began to ask what he had for me and what my purpose was. I felt led to pursue a career in counseling. I attended KU where I completed my bachelor's in psychology, then went on to receive my master’s in counseling from MidAmerica Nazarene University. I am currently operating out of a private practice in Overland Park, where I see children, individuals, and couples, struggling with depression, anxiety, and relational issues. It’s an honor for me to help my clients discover the good the bad and the ugly in their lives, help them come to terms with it, and ultimately grow through it.
Personally, God has blessed me with a marriage of 9 years to my beautiful wife Molly. Together we have been further blessed with 3 children, Oliver, Ruth, and Eoin. Being a husband and father is a huge part of who I am, and what I value most. God has revealed his great love for me through my own love for the people that are close to me. Just another reason to praise him!
I hope to get to worship with you soon!

Deacon of Generosity
Deacon of Generosity
Hi, I’m Scott Shugart. I’m the Deacon of Generosity at Kindred Church. the Deacon of Generosity at Kindred Church. I have attended church as long as I can remember and accepted Jesus as my Savior when I was in second grade while visiting my Father where he was stationed in Anchorage, Alaska serving with the Air Force.
I didn’t fully grasp what this gift of salvation was until many years later. Jesus pursued me through the crazy teenage years and into early adulthood where I was invited to a Youth Conference by my girlfriend, Cindy (now my wife)! It was there that I felt God calling me to go forward to talk to the pastors about salvation. God opened my eyes to the magnitude and wonder of His gift! It has been an incredible journey!
God has been the compass of our lives. We’ve learned that his Love and forgiveness is greater than anything we can ever comprehend. Life is not always perfect, but He is! We don’t always get it right, but His glory and grace cover up all our imperfections! God is good all the time!
In the past, Cindy and I have served at other churches as children’s pastors, youth pastors, young adult’s leaders, worship team members, and church facilities manager. We felt God calling us into missions several years ago. Since then, we’ve led 4 trips to build homes for families in need with YWAM’s Homes of Hope organization. We continue to seek Him for direction and opportunities to serve both locally and internationally!
Cindy received a Bachelor of Arts in Human Services in 1996 and a Master’s in teaching in 2018. I received an Associates of Technology degree in both Professional Flight and Geographic Information Systems in 1994. After being called into missions, I went back to school and received a bachelor’s degree in Christian ministry leadership in 2018.
Cindy spent the early years of our marriage as a stay home Mom with our 3 amazing kids: Brom, Lizzie, and Emma who are all grown now. Once the kids were in grade school, she started working in the education field, where she has been enriching kids’ lives for over 15 years; now working as special needs teacher in Olathe, KS. Cindy has taken her love for kids and teaching to serve as the Children’s Church coordinator for Kindred Church.
For the bulk of my career, I have been working in the corporate world in Telecommunications capital finance. I’ve been able to take those skills and use them to serve Kindred Church in my role as Deacon of Generosity. It is a blessing each time when we come together as a church body to glorify God through applying our tithes and offerings to specific needs the church brings forward.
